I completely understand the reason why SONY and various film theater chains aren't releasing the movie "THE INTERVIEW". You do have to take in consideration of the possible threat. An argument for not releasing the film is what if something does happen you could have prevented it and didn't. Another is the murder in Aurora, Colorado at a 2012 "DARK KNIGHT RISES" movie showing. They weren't prepared for something like that what if something like that were to happen. With even a small chance that something could happen it would be irresponsible to release the film and then something happen.

Except there is one problem with that.

You know that this SONY thing will happen again right? Copy-cats or from the same people. So will every studio then not release the film or whatever product they have? Since North Korea(allegedly) got away with this what if there's a film that has Russia or China as the villain? and what if there are some hackers that do the same thing(because there are always copy cats) are you just going to shut down or cancel the film(or whatever production) every time? Yes procedures need to be taken (A stronger internal network as to make hacking less likely is one) but you can't bow down to the pressure every-time. This didn't happen with TEAM AMERICA WORLD POLICE probably because 1. The former leader had a sense of humor and 2. to he liked that he was a character in a movie.

It does make me wonder though is this one of the reason's why studios seem unwilling to make movies where "real" country is the villain? Ex Russia or China. An example would be IRON MAN 3 the villain was supposed to be "The Mandarin" who has asian origins(and vaguely Chinese ones)but MARVEL Studios(and DISNEY) wanted to release the film in China and China wouldn't allow the release if the villain was Chinese. Another possible reason is allegedly part of IRON MAN 3 was financed by CHINA so this may have also been a condition as well.

We could also discuss how this probably isn't just North Korea (aka "Guardians of Peace) since by all appearances they don't have the technological know how to pull this off and how recent reports say countries such as Russia, China and Iran could be involved. Or we could look at how is it that a multi-billion dollar company got hacked by malware. Heck the U.S. government employs hackers to 1. find other hackers and 2. come up with plans to fight against it.

For now let's just take in consideration that by doing what the hackers, Guardians of Peace (or who ever) do it's wrong and limiting. Your letting outside forces that don't have your best interests in mind dictate what you should and shouldn't make. Are you only going to make films they tell you to make?

Anyone who has actually been following this for some time already knows it's disgruntled lower-level employees within Sony. The United States is just doing this too kick North Korea and Sony is using it as a distraction from their terrible IT security. The GOP (the group that attacked Sony) sent a video to the FBI and USA Government after they announced it was North Korea, mocking them by saying "you are an idiot" over and over again to a song. Typical hacker humour.
